I could use contracts that students have to follow to be able to be using their technology and the websites I allow them to use. I would make sure they are using the internet in a respectful way and not doing things they aren't supposed to be doing. I would also have a discussion with them about if they understand how permanent our digital world is.

ISTE Standard 1.3 is Knowledge Constructor. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

The easiest way to assess this is through research papers. It makes the students research a topic, find credible websites, apply credit to the sources, and build knowledge on their topic through research. Presentations and videos would also work for this and could be done either in group projects or in independent projects.

200

Computer Standard 10.C.1 is choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired objectives of their creation or communication. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

Cyber Standard 11.HS.3 is identify different options for redundancy (e.g., cloud storage, external, duplicate devices). How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

Having my students save project files in different ways would test this. Saving to the cloud, on a flash-drive, uploading to Microsoft Teams, and other saving methods shows me they understand how to save files. This also avoids files getting lost.

200

Cyber Standard 12.DCA.1 is represent complex data using interactive data visualizations or computational models. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

During projects, I would have them using graphs, videos, research studies, and other examples to help us visualize their idea and information. It makes them think more about how they want to present their data in a way we will best understand the information.

300

ISTE Standard 2.4 is Collaborator. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

I would try new learning platforms that I find. This might be a platform that translates Shakespeare or one that quizzes you on certain grammar questions. I would try new websites that others suggest and work with my students to try new learning techniques that they find interesting and appealing to them.

300

ISTE Standard 1.5 is Computational Thinker. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

One strategy to solve problems in a digital way would be using Quizlet to study for a key terms test. They would solve their problem by using the flashcards to study. We could also use it to extract key information from reading. We could ask questions as to why this character decided to do what they did. It allows them to identify the problem and then the key parts around the problem that led to them doing it. There are steps to analyzing which they would be able to use after we taught it to them.

Computer Standard 10.IP.1 is demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the rights and obligations of using and sharing intellectual property. How would this apply to your future career as a teacher?

During papers, presentations, and other projects my students do, they need to know how to cite sources properly. This way they understand that they need to give credit to the person's work which they are using. This includes copyright, trademarks, and other sources they use during their projects.

Cyber Standard 11.A.1 is devise new search strategies based on information gaps and new understanding. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

Teaching my students how to use online databases, how to refine their Google searches instead of just Googling their topic, and uses resources such as online books. These will all help for projects, presentations, and papers.

300

Cyber Standard 12.A.1 is build knowledge by actively exploring real-world issues and problems, developing ideas and theories, and pursuing answers and solutions. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

I would give them a prompt that involves real world ideas. I would then tell them to write a paper or presentation about the idea and why they think the way they do. I could turn this into either an opinion question, a research paper, or use a debate system to get everyone involved.

400

ISTE Standard 2.5 is Designer. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

I would create videos that go over plot summaries for my students to review for a test. I would also use a combination of video readings, reading myself, popcorn reading, and silent reading to accommodate all types of readers. I could use Kahoots or Jeopardy to review key concepts along with questionnaire packets that follow the story.

400

ISTE Standard 1.6 is Creative Communicator. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

Computer Standard 10.SI.1 is evaluate the impacts of technology on social interactions. How would this apply to your future career as a teacher?

Doing projects where they have to have social interactions in person will help. Most are used to communicating through a screen, and most are okay with that. I would also like to do an activity where they have the last 5 minutes of class to talk to their peers and they are not allowed on their phones or laptops. This will allow them to understand how much they rely on their phones for communication. Group discussions will also allow for social interaction outside of technology.

400

Cyber Standard 11.C.1 is publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for their intended audiences to communicate their idea. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

During a project, I could have them pretend they are trying to teach it to a younger kid. This might be a 3rd or 4th grader. This makes them think about what format they want to present in and word their work carefully so they would be able to understand the content.

400

Cyber Standard 12.E.1 is explain source selection based on accuracy, perspective, credibility, and relevance of information, media, data, or other resources. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

At the end of the works cited, I would have my students explain why they chose the sources that they did. Just a brief description as to what appealed to them about the source and how they knew it was credible. This would allow me to see that they understood the source and acknowledged why they chose it.

ISTE Standard 2.7 is Analyst. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

Instead of all tests, I would use group projects or individual projects to help me see what my students understand. They could use different formats such as videos, games, presentations, or other forms of technology that they come up with to show me they understand what is going on. This would help me assess where they are and what they understand about what we read or went over.

500

ISTE Standard 1.7 is Global Collaborator. How would you apply this to your future career as a teacher?

One example that could be used are discussion boards. This allows students to work together to answer questions about a topic. They learn what others are thinking and then add their own opinions in. Group projects also work for this. It allows varying opinions to be found and then worked through. This adds knowledge to a presentation and helps students better understand varying viewpoints.

Computer Standard 10.SE.2 is recognize the importance of monitoring your private data. How would this apply to your future career as a teacher?

Doing an activity such as having them pair up with a partner and Googling their partner. This will allow them to see how much they can find about their partner. It is scary how much information is out there because of social media and school. This leads them into understanding why being careful on social media is so important.
