George Clooney famously had a pet named Max.  What was Max?

Max the pig unfortunately passed away in 2006, but was nonetheless one of the most adored celebrity pets to date. The 300-pound Vietnamese potbellied pig, originally a gift of Clooney’s to an ex-girlfriend, was apparently a formidable influence in the actor’s life, and thought by many to be one of the reasons he maintained his bachelor status for so long. According to Clooney’s journalist father, who wrote about Max for the Cincinnati Inquirer, the pig would “lumber over to the front door and lie down lengthwise over the welcome mat, completely blocking the entrance. He then grunted and squealed until someone brought him breakfast.” Max also insisted on sleeping in Clooney’s bed, which scared away many a girlfriend. As Clooney himself put it in an interview, “You get a lot of grief from people when you sleep with a pig.”

Hepburn was apparently so attached to her dog (brilliantly named Mr. Famous) that he appeared on set with her in a scene for Funny Face in 1957. He was a constant presence at her side, and even inspired a Yorkshire Terrier craze in Hollywood at the time. After Mr. Famous’s death, Hepburn was apparently so distraught that Mel Ferrer gifted her another Yorkie pup, named Assam of Assam.

Why is 13 a bad number for dinner parties?

Some historians date 13-related bad luck to dinner parties

For one, the Last Supper: There were 13 people (12 apostles, one Jesus) at that dinner? And two of them (Jesus and Judas) didn’t … have the best time afterward? Also, there’s an ancient Norse legend about Odin having a dinner party that was crashed by Loki, the god of chaos and evil — Loki was the 13th arrival at that party.

Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s fluffy white cat, is probably the ultimate in fashionable felines, having graced the pages of countless fashion magazines and possessing over 100,000 Instagram followers on a fan account. Lagerfeld is so besotted with her that, during an interview with CNN, he expressed his sadness over the fact that their relationship could in fact not progress further. “There is no marriage, yet, for human beings and animals,” he said. “I never thought that I would fall in love like this with a cat."

Statistically, is Friday the 13th more dangerous than any other day?

Statistically speaking, it’s actually safer than most days

Whether this is because people are staying at home, fearfully tucked in bed, seems unlikely, but the Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics conducted a study in 2008 that showed there were fewer traffic accidents, fires and robberies on Friday the 13th, compared to other Fridays.

What is the maximum number of Friday the 13ths that can occur during a calendar year?

Three. This is because three is the maximum number of months in a calendar year which all begin on the same weekday.

There are two possible calendar combinations that will give you this.

  • In a leap year, January, April, and July will all start the same day of the week.
  • In a non-leap year, February, March, and November will all start the same day of the week.

If that day of the week is Sunday, you’ll have three Friday the 13ths. The most recent leap year when this occurred was 2012 and it will happen again in 2040. The most recent common year when this happened was 2015 and it will happen again in 2026.

What famous artist had an Ocelot?

Salvator Dali, one of history's most interesting artists, took funny pictures with his cat before it was cool. To make the story of Dali and his ocelot even more bizarre, he took the little fluff, Babou, just about everywhere he went, much like a dog.

While an ordinary cat is usually much too shy to travel around with his or her owner, Babou would peacefully wear a leash and accompanied Dali just about everywhere in Manhattan, even the restaurants. Dali brought Babou with him on vacations, too. This twosome traveled about the ocean liner SS France together.
