The Story: Leo’s Last-Minute Masterpiece

Leo stared at the blank canvas. The school art contest was tomorrow, and while his friends had painted sunsets and sailboats weeks ago, Leo had nothing but a clean white square. He felt a pinch of panic in his chest. Suddenly, his cat, Barnaby, tipped over a jar of bright blue paint right onto the middle of the canvas.

Instead of getting angry, Leo watched the blue swirl and spread. He grabbed a brush and began to pull the paint into waves, adding streaks of silver and white. By midnight, he hadn't just painted a picture; he had captured the wild energy of a storm at sea. The next day, Leo stood proudly by his work as the judges placed a blue ribbon on his "accidental" masterpiece.

Which of the following is the best summary of the story?

A. Leo’s cat Barnaby is very clumsy and knocks over a jar of blue paint, which makes a huge mess on Leo's floor and canvas.

B. Leo is worried about a deadline for an art contest until an accident with his cat inspires him to create a winning painting.

C. Art contests are very stressful for students, but it is important to always finish your work on time no matter what happens.

 D. Leo painted a picture of a storm at sea using blue, silver, and white paint because those are his favorite colors to use in art class.
