The new name is “Respect-for-Cultural-Diversity Day”. It is broad concept, less discriminating than “Race Day”. It points to cultural diversity in our country and the respect we owe to all social groups, together with their different ways of expressing. It aims at living in harmony.

None! All the above characteristics make the cultural identity of an individual, and consequently of a group of people. Why do racism and discrimination occur in contemporary society?
It is basically a question of not being able to understand cultures different from one’s own. Many people lack a sense of empathy towards those who are different. Being different many times causes rejection because one must be flexible to understand others. This is why AFS commits to the development of people’s abilities regarding intercultural sensitivity.

Cultural heritage not only includes monuments and artifacts collections.
