1. Atrophic gastritis — stomach lining decreases affecting acid secretion = affecting B12 absorption

2. increase pH - decrease acidity = affect protein digestions and B12 absorption

3. decrease in oral health = affects the ability to chew and swallow

4. reduced taste and smell = less desire to eat

5. reduced VitD synthesis = increasing Vitamin D requirements

6. sphincters decrease = lead to acid reflux

7. presence of chronic disease = affects nutrient requirements and taking medications

8. risk of sarcopenia and osteoporosis = increased need for protein, calcium and vitamin D

9. Slower gastric motility = smaller meals and frequent
