This system controls your blood flow
Circulatory System
What is the main job of the heart?
What does the xylem transport?
Water
What is epilepsy? What is it caused by?
It's a disease that affects the brain.
Epilepsy causes seizures because of failed electrical signals in the brain
Which takes the blood away from the blood? Arteries or veins?
Arteries
Which system supports your muscles allowing you to move?
What is the main job of the muscular system?
What does the phloem transport
How long do seizures last for?
5 Minutes
The intestines belong to which system?
Digestive System
The lungs belong to which system?
Respiratory System
What is the main job of the digestive system?
Breaking down our food and giving nutrients to our body
Name the main parts of a plant
Roots
Leaves
Stem
Flowers (optional)
If someone has a stroke what part of the body isn't getting enough oxygen?
How do the lungs and heart work together to bring oxygen to our bodies?
The lungs bring air from outside. The oxygen is taken from the lungs and put into the blood. The circulatory system (heart) spread oxygenated blood through the body. the cells use the oxygen and make carbon dioxide. The blood picks up carbon dioxide and lungs get rid of it by exhaling.
This system controls your breathing and which one does your spine belong to?
Breathing- Respiratory System
Spine- Nervous System
What is the main job of the skeletal system?
Support your muscles and protect your vital organs
Water and nutrients get sucked through the plants..
Roots
Which life system does stroke affect? and how does it affect the body?
The Nervous System. Blood stops flowing to the brain. The brain loses oxygen, killing brain cells
How does the muscular system and nervous system work together?
The nervous system tells the muscular system to move.
What do we breathe in and what do we breathe out?
Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide
Name the three types of muscles and tell me what they do
Smooth: They are involuntary—they work automatically. ex. stomach
Cardiac: The special muscle that makes up your heart.
Skeletal: Muscles attached to your bones by tendons. They are voluntary, meaning you choose to move them (like deciding to kick a ball).
How does a plant use its phloem and xylem to transport water and nutrients. Explain the steps.
First water and nutrients get sucked up by roots
Water and nutrients through the xylem and the xylem take them to the leaves
in the leaves plants use sunlight to make food
the sugar needs to get to the other parts of the plant, so the phloem carries it to the leaves
Asthma affects which life system? How does it affect the body?
Respiratory System
Lungs can get swollen and filled with mucus. This causes smaller airways and makes it harder to breathe
Why is it important for our circulatory system to bring oxygen to our brains?
So we don't have a stroke.
