A system of government which is controlled by 2 levels of government.
What is law?
A set of rules that allow people to live peacefully in a societ.
What is a political party?
a group of people organized to acquire and exercise political power.
What are the rights of the accused?
Collectively ensure that individuals accused of crimes have fundamental rights and protections.
What is the difference between the Federal and the State government?
Reserved for states and the people.
What is the Legislative Branch Known for?
Legislative Branch makes laws for North Carolina.
What makes a good law?
They should apply to everyone, and they should be fair.
What is the two party system?
two-party system is a political party system in which two major political parties consistently dominate the political landscape.
What is the 4th amendment?
Against unreasonable searches and seizures but upon, probable cause.
Where do laws come from?
Code of Hammurabi (an eye for an eye).
What is the Executive Branch?
The Executive Branch is headed by a governor who is directly elected by the people.
what are the different types of laws?
Criminal, and civil
What are elections?
An election is a formal group decision-making process by which a population chooses an individual or multiple individuals to hold public office.
What is the 5th amendment?
Be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb, be a witness against himself, due process of law
What is the general election?
People in every state across the country vote for who they want to be the president of the U.S.
What is the Judicial Branch ?
The general court of justice.
What is criminal law?
The government is always the plaintif, and the individual or group being charges is the defendant. ( felony, misdemeanor, infraction)
What is a primary?
An election where votes select candidates for an upcoming general Election .
What is the 6th amendment?
Shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trail, informed of the nature and cause of the accusations.
What is the 15th amendment?
The right of U.S, citizens to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the U.S, or any senate because of what or who they are.
Civil cases consist of?
Divorce, custody, child support, cases involving less than $10,000 are heard in district court.
What is civil law?
Lawsuits, seeking money.
What is the electoral college?
In the electoral college system, each state gets a certain number of Electors based on its representation in congress.
What is the 8th amendment?
Excessive bail shall not be require, nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicte.
What is suffrage?
political franchise or simply franchises is the right to vote in public, political election.
