In chapter 8, the doctor tells the nurse to let the boys in to see Johnny, "He's been asking for them. It can't hurt now." What is the quote foreshadowing?
The meaning behind, "Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold..."
"Stay gold" means "Don't change" or live your life in the best way possible.
Why does Johnny really want to live, even though he has thought of suicide in the past, and he would never be able to walk again?
"I don't want to die now. It ain't long enough. Sixteen years ain't long enough. I wouldn't mind it so much if there wasn't so much stuff I ain't done yet and so many things I ain't seen. It's not fair."
"The clouds were pink and meadow larks were singing."
Gone with the Wind
"I almost jumped out of my skin."
Name the sweet treat that the Curtis boys eat for breakfast.
"Dally grinned wolfishly."
Ponyboy's retelling helps him process all that has happened in his life and with the deaths of Johnny and Dally. He makes a good point about the end, how there are many others that are exactly like Johnny and Dally, that should not be judged simply because of how they look or the environment that they have grown up in.
"The horizon was a thin golden line."
