Have a closer look at the member's profile (occupation, employer, age, etc.) and account history. If deemed unusual, complete an Unusual Transaction Form (UTF). If loss potential is high, talk to branch manager/Risk, Audit and Compliance.
What should you do when you see unusual transactions or have concerns about a potential loss?

What to do when accepting a cash deposit of $10,000 or more?

- Account with a large number of email money transfers (EMTs) offset by cash or more EMTs. - Funds are being deposited into several accounts, consolidated into one, and transferred outside the country. - Purpose of account is not clear, funds flow in and out without any day to day or business activity. - Multiple transactions are carried out on the same day at the same branch but with an apparent attempt to use different tellers. - Customer is listed as a lawyer, real estate agent and makes frequent cash deposits, or deposits of less than $10,000 that could have been deposited all at once.
What are only some examples of unusual activity?

What are some objectives of Money Laundering?

◾Review of the transaction history of the account to ascertain the types and amounts of previous dealings ◾If the amount being deposited is larger than normal for this member, and the reasoning provided by the member does not make logical sense, verifications through the issuing financial institution, plus the verification through the actual issuer of the cheque should be done. These cheques are often written on financial institutions outside the province ◾Placing a hold on the cheque based on your assessment and the location of the clearing financial institution
