Who is Lazarus?
In verse 11, Jesus says Lazarus "sleeps," but He is actually using a metaphor to mean this.
What is death (or that he has died)?
When Jesus first heard Lazarus was sick, He did this instead of rushing to Bethany immediately.
What is stayed two more days where He was?
According to verse 18, Bethany was near this major city, about two miles away.
What is Jerusalem?
Even though Jesus delayed coming, the text says in verse 5 that He felt this emotion toward Martha, Mary, and Lazarus.
What is Love?
She is the sister who ran out to meet Jesus first while her sister sat in the house.
Who is Martha?
Jesus calls himself "Rabbi" in verse 8. A Rabbi is a Jewish word for this occupation.
What is a Teacher?
This event happened after Jesus told the disciples Lazarus was dead but before He arrived at the tomb.
What is He talked with Martha (or Mary)?
When the disciples were afraid to go back to Judea, they reminded Jesus that the Jews there had recently tried to do this to Him.

Jesus told Martha, "I am the resurrection and the ____."

This disciple, also called "the Twin," bravely said to the other disciples, "Let us also go, that we may die with Him."
Who is Thomas?
In verse 33, the text says Jesus "groaned in the spirit." This phrase means He was feeling this strong emotion.
What is sadness (or grief/deep trouble/upset)?
By the time Jesus arrived in Bethany, Lazarus had been in the tomb for this many days.
What is four days?
In verse 35, the shortest verse in the Bible, the text explicitly says Jesus did this.
What is wept?
The sickness of Lazarus happened not just for death, but for this higher purpose, according to verse 4.
What is The Glory of God (or so the Son of God may be glorified)?
The text mentions that Mary is the same woman who performed this act of service for the Lord using fragrant oil and her hair.
What is anointing (or wiping) His feet?
Jesus had to say to the disciples that Lazarus was dead. He said this to them in this way.
What is plainly?
This action happened immediately before Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come forth!"
What is He prayed (or thanked the Father)?
When Jesus commanded the stone be taken away, Martha objected because she was worried about this specific problem.
What is the smell (or that he had been dead four days)?
Jesus tells Martha that if she believes, she will see this.
What is The Glory of God?
These people were standing by the tomb weeping, and Jesus prayed aloud specifically so they would believe that God sent Him.
Who are the people (or the crowd/Jews) standing by?
In verse 39, Martha mentions there might be a "stench." A synonym for stench is this.
What is a bad smell (or odor/stink)?
Put these three events in order: Jesus weeps, Jesus speaks to Martha about the resurrection, Mary falls at Jesus' feet.
