Who are the Officers of the League?

The Junior League of Kalamazoo, Incorporated is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
What is the mission of the JLK?

These categories of membership have voting privileges.
What are Active and Preferred Active.

This council shall aid in the research of future projects, coordinate community activities of the League, and shall monitor and evaluate the current programming.
What is the Community Impact Council?

These must be approved by the Finance Council/Committee and if over $500 must also be approved by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors and if over $1000 must be approved by a two-thirds vote of the Active members present and voting at a General Membership Meeting.
What are unbudgeted expenditures.

This officer shall attend all full council meetings; shall serve as the secretary of the Community Advisory Panel; and shall be an ex-officio member of any other committee upon request, except the Nominating Committee. In the event of a conflict of interest or an absence of the Parliamentarian, the duties of the Parliamentarian shall temporarily be assumed by this officer.
Who is the President-Elect?

This may be called by the President, at the request of three (3) members of the Board or the request of five (5) Active members.
What is a special meeting of the Board of Directors?

This membership category is available after completing requirements for Active membership for at least five years in a Junior League.
What is a Sustaining member?

This council shall oversee all financial matters of the League (including dues), conduct financial research, advise the Board on all matters relating to the finances of the League, ensure an annual audit or review of the financial statements is conducted and prepare the annual budget for presentation to the Board of Directors and the membership.
What is the Finance Council?

This person is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and in the event of a conflict of interest or an absence of this person, the duties of the this person shall temporarily be assumed by the President-Elect.
Who is the Parliamentarian?

This officer shall be the custodian of the funds of the League; shall collect all dues and assessments; shall receive all monies; shall, with the President, sign all contracts and obligations authorized by the Board of Directors.
Who is the Vice President of Finance/Treasurer?

These people shall report all pertinent information, recommendations, and/or actions taken by the Councils to the Board of Directors.
Who are the Council Vice Presidents?

This membership category is available to any Sustaining member in good standing who has reached the age of 80 years. The member shall no longer have a dues requirement to the League.
What is a Sustaining Emeritus member?

This council shall support, oversee and evaluate all fundraising activities of the League, and shall research and develop a long-range fund development plan for the League.
What is the Fund Development Council?

This committee shall investigate potential community programs through assessments of community needs.

This officer shall keep files of all reports; shall be responsible for the preparation of written ballots, including absentee ballots: and shall collect, compile, and deposit records for archiving?

This shall consist of one-third (1/3) of the Active members with voting rights as determined on the first day of the League’s fiscal year.

This status shall be permanently granted, upon written request to the Corresponding Secretary and acceptance by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Board of Directors, to any Sustaining member in good standing who has served the Junior League of Kalamazoo for fifty (50) years or more.

This council shall be concerned with membership practices, policies and responsibilities.

The Nominating Chair is also a member of this committee.
What is the Membership Satisfaction committee?

This officer shall be an ex-officio member of all committees, except for the Nominating Committee; shall, with the approval of the Board of Directors, create other committees as are deemed necessary and shall assign them duties as authorized by the Board of Directors.

The current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised shall be this for all matters of procedure not specifically covered by these Bylaws or by specific rules of procedures adopted by the League.

This membership category member must meet all of the requirements of Active membership but is exempt from the Fundraising and Community Impact volunteer shift requirements.
What is a Preferred Active member?

The committee composition of each Council for the next administrative year shall be determined by this group that shall also be responsible for appointing any additional positions deemed necessary.
What is the Board of Directors?

This document shall annually require a two-thirds reaffirmation vote of the Active members present and voting at a General Membership Meeting before June 30 and shall have a full review every three years.
