Continuous Measurement
Process of applying labels to observed properties of events using a standard set of rules.
What is measurement?
Measurement in which some instances of the response class of interest are NOT detected or counted.
What is discontinuous measurement?
Assessment in which one observes the learner in the natural environment to identify preferred items.
What is natural/naturalistic?
Data gathered from recollections, interviews, checklists, and subjective ratings.
What is indirect measures?
Measurement in which all instances of the response class of interest are detected and counted in the observation period.
What is continuous measurement?
Record whether the target behavior occurred throughout the whole interval, record percentage of total intervals in which the target behavior occurred.
What is whole interval recording?
Presenting 2 items at the same time. Observer records which one learner touches and how long they play with item for.
What is paired stimulus?
Data gathered from direct observation, recording, and ABC recording.
What is direct measures?
Amount of time a behavior occurs.
What is duration?
Record whether the target behavior occurred at any part during the interval.
What is partial interval recording?
Present an array of 3+ stimuli and record which items are chosen which ones are not.
What is multiple stimulus?
FBA method that allows us to confirm hypothesis regarding functional relations between behavior and environmental events.
What is functional analysis?
Number of responses emitted during an observation period.
What is frequency?
Record whether the target behaviors occurred at the end of the time interval only (in that moment).
What is momentary time sampling?
Present 3+ items at once and remove whichever one is chosen for next trial.
