Describe the steps of digestion.

Digestion starts in the mouth - teeth grind up the food into small pieces.  Saliva then wets and softens them before moving down to the esophagus and then to the stomach.  From the stomach the now soupy liquid moves into the small intestine.  Any undigested food moves to the large intestine where water is absorbed.  The remnants leaves the body as waste.
