Please give a pitch for the MHR-DESI program to explain this track's focus.

Focuses on creating change through advocacy and education. Touches on identifying societal problems, analyzing  structural inequalities, and proposing policy changes to address that. Focuses on programmatic change within the work place – ex: evaluating programs in place at an organization, creating and implementing new programs where needed.

Please give a pitch for the HCL program.

In the healthcare law space, certifications are common but very few folks hold a full Master’s in the regulatory/compliance side of the industry, as there are only a handful of similar programs. This degree is a good fit for folks that like the legal side of the industry and want to work (or already work) in a compliance-facing position.

Please give a pitch for the IBL program.

The MLS International Business Law program addresses the crossroads of business and law, and how they interact in a global context. As businesses and corporations continue to expand globally, there is a need for professionals with a deeper understanding and application of the legal landscape of international and transnational business expertise.

Working in international/global business can be lucrative, and lead to exponential growth, but there are many pitfalls – compliance programs, political pressure, operation risks, laws/regulations of organizations, etc. This program prepares students to help reduce those risks and discuss the appropriate roles and responsibilities of companies who work internationally.

Please give a pitch for the MHR-Inclusive Leadership program or explain this track's focus.

  • Takes a philosophical     approach to leadership. Focuses on change through leadership. Focuses on     foundational leadership skills, change management, conflict resolution…and     then things like assessing structures in place at an organization,     determining how equitable they are, and if not how can you ensure they     are.
  • IL is not a Human Resources     degree, they are very different.

Please give a pitch for the IPL program.

The Master of Legal Studies degree is designed specifically for non-lawyers who are still heavily involved in Native or Indigenous legal issues. This degree offers a strong foundation in Native American law for those who demand knowledge of Native American self-governance, policy, regulation, and business practice.

The degree starts off very high level, and will introduce the American Legal System, including state and Federal law, as well as Federal Indian law and Policy in the US. Once students have a good understand of the legal field, you will dive in to topics that are very specific to Federal Indian Law, including ICWA (Indian Child Welfare Act), natural resources law, water law, criminal jurisdiction, etc. By the time you graduate, you will have a very in depth, but well-rounded understanding of all of the major areas of Federal Indian Law in the US.

Please give a pitch for the ENR program.

The MLS in Energy and Natural Resources Law is an accelerated program designed for non-lawyers that work in the energy and oil & gas sector that want to gain the knowledge to understand the legal side of the industry. This program is important because people who are working the energy and O&G industry are not usually trained in law but are dealing with legal issues. If there is not a full understanding of these legal matters, the mistakes could be very costly, especially since regulations in this industry are constantly changing. This program is great for landmen, civil/petroleum engineers, energy consultants, people in compliance and safety - anybody who works with legal issues and the law
