What is the ideal number of colleges to apply to?

Trick Question! There is no perfect number, but it is highly recommended to apply to several, split among reach, match, and safety schools, with 2-5 schools in each category. Some students split it up based on Major or Program interest, geography, scholarship/financial aid availability, and campus size and cultural fit. What is NOT recommended is applying narrowly: Only to Ivy Leagues, only to community college...etc. You application is encouraged to have diversity.

False. Treat college and scholarship/financial aid applications like a part-time job. Many opportunities are out there, with abundant financial support. But nobody will knock on your door hand-delivering you an acceptance. Preparing early, reaching out for guidance, and completing ALL parts of your application (GPA, scores, recommendations, personal statement...etc) will increase your chances exponentially.
