What is the "ACT"?

This is an institution that offers two-year associate degrees and certificates, often focusing on career training or providing a path to a four-year university.

The application platform for over 900 partner schools. It allows you to apply to multiple schools at once. 

What is the "Common Application"?

These institutions are funded by local and state governments and usually offer lower tuition rates, especially for students who are residents of the state where a college is located.

This is the part of the SMARTIE framework represented by the letter T. It includes a clear deadline. 

What is "Time-Bound"?

This program is a structured, hands-on learning program that prepares students for specific careers. They combine classroom instruction + practical training to prepare students for certifications, licenses, or direct entry into the workforce.

This institution is focused on providing a broad education across various disciplines, including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and the arts, to foster critical thinking and well-rounded individuals rather than a highly specialized career path.

This is the part of the SMARTIE framework represented by the letter S. It reflects an important dimension of what you seek to accomplish across college, career, and beyond. In other words, it describes a well thought out outcome. 

What is "Strategic"?

These are the parts of the SMARTIE framework represented by the letters I and E. They apply a lens of critical consciousness to decide what you need to happen to navigate relevant systems to achieve the goal. It also includes an element of fairness or justice that seeks to address systemic injustice, inequity, or oppression to achieve personal, collective, or systemic liberation.
