143 Take Sides with Jehovah

“If you see any oppression of the poor and a violation of justice and righteousness in your district, do not be surprised about the matter. For that high official is being watched by one who is higher than he is, and there are others who are still higher than they are.”—Eccl. 5:8.

Does this refer to human rulers? Or is Jehovah involved?

From a human standpoint, this statement well describes men with authority in government. Sadly, in human governments, all these rulers may be corrupt, and the common people must cope with misrule on many levels.

Yet, no matter how hopeless matters might seem, we can take comfort in knowing that Jehovah is ‘watching even high officials’ in human governments.

Consequently, Ecclesiastes 5:8 brings to mind the real situation of men in government; there is always someone with greater authority.

To where I find peace and rest.

He guides me always with loyal love

To where I find peace and rest."

● ‘Have you always felt that way? . . . How do you feel about the future?’

"Do not think I came to bring peace to the earth; I came to bring, not peace, but a sword." Matthew 10:34

What did Jesus mean?

Hint: read :35

The Bible encourages Christians to “be peaceable with all men.” (Rom. 12:18) But Jesus’ teachings can act as “a sword” in some families. This happens when a member of a family accepts Jesus’ teachings while others reject or oppose them. In such a case, the relatives—those within the household—become “enemies” of the one who is learning the truth.—Matt. 10:36.

What does Matthew 7:13,14 say regarding religion?

Or 7:21-23?

“Go in through the narrow gate, because broad is the gate and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are going in through it; 14  whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are finding it.

21  “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22  Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works* in your name?’ 23  And then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew* you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!’"

How would you respond to the conversation stopper: ‘I’M NOT INTERESTED IN JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES’

‘I’M NOT INTERESTED IN JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES’
