What is the difference between a 1st person shooter and a 3rd person shooter?

          

1st person shooter - the player experiences the action through the eyes of the protagonist.            

3rd person shooter - instead of seeing the games through the main character's eyes, you see the main character moving and shooting n the game (you are looking over shoulder)
