What is UNIV?
UNIV is an award-winning three-week, non-credit-bearing, no-cost orientation workshop for our prospective students who declare less than 24 previous college credits on their admission application. UNIV 100 is offered for those planning to attend class in the online environment, and UNIV 101 is for those planning to attend class at a local campus.

What is financial planning?
Before applying to the University, the Financial Plan provides potential students the ability to estimate tuition, fees, student aid, Pell grant eligibility, corporate partner tuition discounts and loan eligibility for an entire degree program. Potential students fusing financial aid loans to fund their education are shown how to borrow responsibly to maintain lower debt upon graduation.

What is iGrad?
iGrad is an online financial education resource that provides tools and resources to help our students better manage their finances. It’s designed to be casual, brief and easy-to-understand. Think of iGrad as a resource library - the go-to place for money management and student loan repayment information. The site offers more than 500 articles and approximately 150 videos, as well as calculators and games to educate students about budgeting, credit reports and choosing a repayment plan.

What is adaptive learning tools?
Adaptive Learning Tools: Step-by-Step Math Review and Knowledge Checks help students identify their problem areas so they can give more focus to those areas.

What is Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)?
Prior Learning Assessment evaluates the learning and training students gain outside of the traditional classroom setting, for college credit. If the training is eligible, college credits may be awarded and applied toward their University of Phoenix undergraduate degree program.

These tools focus on a student’s personal learning progress and what he or she needs to learn, versus giving the same "one size fits all" material to every student. This will save each student time, help him or her be more effective, and give instructors a better view into how to personalize a student’s learning experience.

Participants are introduced to Phoenix Career Services and complete the first step in the process, the Career Interests Profiler. Students also begin to put their career plan together with the Career Exploration Plan Worksheet.

The Financial Plan is particularly helpful in that it estimates the costs associated with both a year-by-year breakdown and an entire degree program, whereas many university calculators break down costs for multiple years. Also, the University’s Financial Plan has a unique user flow and functionality to increase wise borrowing awareness and planning for financial aid loans.

How does adaptive learning tools make us different?
Adaptive Learning Tools will provide continuous support and information that are highly personalized to students’ ongoing learning progress. For example, each student will receive encouraging, informative hints and feedback messages specific to the types of errors he or she may make on a step of a math problem, just like what a supportive personal tutor would give.

Professional Training Portfolio: Term used to describe all non-Experiential Learning Essay petition items submitted to PLA for evaluation. Examples: certificates, licenses, training courses, transcripts, etc. Credit Recommendation Guide: List of companies and their training courses that have been pre-evaluated and given a credit-award recommendation by Prior Learning Assessment. Apollo Quick List: PLA document/list containing pre-evaluated professional certificates and licenses with credit award recommendations. Not all professional certificates and licenses have been pre-evaluated or are included on this list. Experiential Learning Essays: The outline and rationale of an Experiential Learning Essay follows Kolb's Model of learning where experience is considered a source of learning and development. The student’s essay must demonstrate concrete experience, reflection of experience, generalizations/principles/theories and application of what has been learned.
