When the kicker successfully kicks the ball, he or she must first run to where?

1st base

100

When do you kick the ball?

When it is your turn kick and the roller rolls the ball

100

What are three ways to get a player out?

1) catch the kicked ball directly without it touching the ground

2) tag the runner with the ball before they are on base

3) tag the cone with the ball before they get on base

4) the runner gets 3 fouls

100

How many players can there be on a base at one time?

One player at a time per base

100

If there is no one on base, where should you aim to kick the ball?

Aim for either third base or the outfield. Those are the farthest places away from first base. You can also aim where there are less people.

200

What is the yellow cone between 1st base and third base called?

2nd base

200

When you kick the ball, where must you run to?

1st base

200

If no one is on base and the ball is kicked, where should you pass the ball?

Pass the ball to the 1st base defender because that's where the runner must go.

200

True or False

The fielding team is allowed to block or get in the way of the runner?

False, the fielding team is never allowed to get in the way of the runner

200

When kicking the ball, when should you try to keep the ball low to the ground and not high?

When you are trying to get on base. Line drives are very difficult to catch so you are more likely to get on base with them.

300

What base does the kicker start to kick the ball from?

Home Base

300

How far must the ball travel forward to be considered fair?

The ball must travel at least 5 feet forward of home base and not go foul

300

If you are in the deep in the outfield and the ball goes to you without being caught who should you pass the ball to?

You always want to pass the ball to a "Cut off" person. This is a person who is about half way between you and the base that can "cut off" the runner from advancing to the next base (usually short stop or the roller)

300

When is fielding team allowed to leave there spots to field the ball?

After the ball is kicked, the fielding team can move freely without getting in the runner's way.

300
How can you get a triple play?

You can get a triple play by getting three people out at the same play. There must be at least 2 people on base. You can get a triple play by tagging out 3 people on the base or by catching a fly ball and tagging out 2 people on base.

400

Where must the fielding team stay behind before the kicker kicks the ball?

Behind the Roller/Pitching mound/roller mound/ digit dot

400

If you are safe at first base and another player from your team kicks a ball high in the air and the fielding team catches it, what must you do?

If you left 1st base, you need to go back to first base and touch it to be safe.

400

What is a double play and how does it work?

a double play is when the fielding team gets 2 players out on the same play. It usually involves catching the ball from the kicker and tagging out a runner who is currently on base. It could also be tagging out 2 runners who are on base.

400

Lets say that your team is kicking with bases loaded. You are on 2nd base. Your teammate who is kicking, kicks the ball to the third base defender and the 3rd base defender tags the cone before you get there. What must you as the runner do?

You are out. When bases are loaded, all runners are forced to advance to the next base. Since the fielding team tagged the third base cone before you got there, you were "forced" out.

400

A sacrifice play is a strategy you would use in which you would purposefully get yourself out in order to achieve a higher goal. Give an example of when you might use a sacrifice play.

A common sacrifice play is when you have a runner on second base. When it is your turn to kick, you purposely aim the ball toward first base which would easily get you out. However, this allows the runner on second to advance to third and possibly even home to score a run. It is also common to kick the all high and deep if you have a runner on base who may be able to score on tagging up. You are sacrificing an out to either score a run or increase your chances of scoring a run.

500

What do you call the imaginary lines that go from the 1st base cone to home base and from the third base cone to home base?

foul lines (if the ball goes in this area, it is a foul)

500

You are on the kicking team and you are on 1st base. Another player from your team kicks the ball up really  high. You successfully ran from 1st base to 2nd base, but shortly after your teammate ball was caught. What must you do to be safe at second base?

Once the ball is caught, you must "tag-up" or return to 1st base and touch it. Once you touch 1st base, the only way to be safe at second is to continue running and touch 2nd base before you get tagged out.

500

You are the fielding team. There are bases loaded with 2 outs. Your team is winning 4-2. The next kicker kicks the ball right in the middle of 1st and 2nd base. Who should you pass the ball to maximize your chances of getting the third out without the other team scoring?

It is almost always better to pass the ball to the first base defender. The student who just kicked the ball will generally take the longer time to reach the base since they have to kick and then run. Since the ball was kicked between 1st and 2nd base, you are more likely to get the runner out at first than say throwing the ball back to home base.

500

It is the bottom of the 2nd inning and the bases are 1st and 3rd with 1 out. The score is 2-1 and the home team is losing. Sally is on 3rd base and Bob is on 1st base. Marry Poppins kicks the ball and it hits the floor. She is able to get a triple. The fielding team quickly tags 2nd base before the runner gets there. How many outs are there, who is on base, and what is the score?

Outs: 2 (Bob was forced out at 2nd base)

Score: 2-2 (Sally scored one run)

Bases: Marry Poppins is safe at third base

The home team always kicks last

500

You are the fielding team. There is only one out and there is a runner on first base. What could your team do to get both outs at the same play.

Your team could purposely let the ball bounce in order to make a double play. You would tag out the runner at 2nd base followed by the runner at 1st base by making passes the the 2nd and 1st base defense.
