What is our diaper changing policy?

Whenever possible, parents are encouraged to change diapers. There are certain instances, for example, a parent is on a Serve Team, where diaper changing can be done by the lead teacher in the nursery/toddler space. As a normal practice, as part of our check-in procedures, we will make sure that we have an updated phone number to contact parents if a diaper change becomes necessary.

What is our Zero Tolerance policy?

There will be zero tolerance for behavior that is deemed out of control by the teacher or leader. 1. Behavior deemed out of control or violent will result in immediate removal of the child from the ministry activity and personal family contact by the Ministry Staff. 2. If the offense is an illegal activity, the police will be contacted. 3. The child may be suspended from ministry activities for an amount of time determined by The Way staff. 4. The child and family will be treated with respect and love, and the child will be welcomed back to ministry activities after the suspension period provided he/she is ready to respect the rules of the ministry. All efforts will be made to assist parents in keeping their child in ministry activities. Our top priorities exist to keep all children safe and maintain an environment consistent for teaching all children.

One leader should lead the front, the second leader should count kids as they leave. The last leader should confirm there are no other children in the room and re-count once outside to confirm numbers.

Big Kids will leave down the front stairwell.

Teen leaders will assist the nursery and two's.

Two's and nursery will leave from the front.

Kinder and 3's will leave from the back stairwell, with teen leaders assisting where necessary.

Not a problem. You can go print another one. Just hit reprint label, it will give you another name tag with the matching number.

FALSE.

If this is a ministry event, the two person rule should always be followed. You should never be alone in a room with a child.

There should always be 2 people in the room at all times. At least one background checked adult with a minor. Or two background checked adults.

You would use the walkie talkie.

What should you do if someone tries to pick up a child who is not able. For instance a minor, or someone that does not have a tag?

Let them know that due to policy/insurance that they cannot pick up the child. 

1. They will need to get an adult.

2. They will need to print a tag or find the parent that has the tag

3. If neither of those is an option. Contact the Children's Pastor or a Pastor

What is the special needs policy regarding age in a classroom? 

A child shall not exceed the age range of the room more than two years, in order to avoid injury to smaller/younger children. If the child is mentally not at their chronological age they may stay with the younger group for no more than 2 years.
