A recipe calls for 1/2 cup of butter (1 stick) softened (not melted). How can you do this so it softens faster?

Cube the butter and leave it on the counter for 15-30 minutes. If you leave it as a full stick, you'll need to let it soften for 30-45 minutes. 

If you use a microwave, put the stick in a bowl and cook for 10 seconds.

Ask your group if there's something you can do or help with. You can also start washing the dishes or put away ingredients if there's nothing to do.

A fork. 

Stick a fork in a potato, then use the peeler to get the skin off. The fork stabilizes the potato for you.

You need to put your food in a microwave safe container and then reheat the food in the microwave. 

Otherwise, high temps can cause styrofoam to melt or break down causing toxins to leak into your food.

Cooking spray.

You can also keep it refrigerated for a few hours.
