What is ERROR FAITH and LIFE

This hymn was written by Augustus M. Toplady in 1763. One day when Toplady was traveling to a nearby village to preach, he was caught in a storm and took shelter in the nearby gorge. While he was waiting in the narrow gap in the rocks for the storm to pass, he was inspired to write this hymn.

The hymn calls to attention the term rock used to describe God in several places in the Bible. “For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?” (2 Samuel 22:32). That rock was broken for us, so we could be saved from the guilt and power of sin.

Quote Phillipians 2:3

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

In 1844 a young Irishman, Joseph Scriven, had completed his college education and returned home to marry his sweetheart. As he was traveling to meet her on the day before the planned wedding, he came upon a horrible scene—his beautiful fiancée tragically lying under the water in a creek bed after falling off her horse.

Later, Scriven moved to Canada and eventually fell in love again, only to experience devastation once more when she became ill and died just weeks before their marriage. For the second time, this humble Christian felt the loss of the woman he loved.

The following year, he wrote a poem to his mother in Ireland that described the deep friendship with Jesus he had cultivated in prayer through the hardships of his life.

Quote Phillipians 2 vs 1 and 2

If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Dedicated to the temple when I was just a baby, I was destined to lead an extraordinary life. When I was a young boy, God spoke to me audibly for the first time. As I grew, my prophetic gift increased—God let “none of my words fall to the ground” . Significantly, it was I who chose David to be king of Israel.

We are the prophets who opposed the worship of the god Baal in Israel. After the division of Israel into two kingdoms, We represented the last great spiritual heroes before Israel’s exile. Our campaign in northern Israel against King Ahab and Jezebel helped to lessen Israel’s growing evil but did not restore Israel’s greatness. Israel’s demise made us look like frustrated doomsayers and miracle workers rather than national leaders or saviors.

Contemporary scholars say I was the sister of Jesus’ mother, Mary. As such, I was witness to Jesus’ entire life, and accompanied him on the road, stood by the cross, and went to his tomb. I requested that my sons sit at Jesus’ right and left hands when he reached Paradise. Some may think that a shallow request—yet James was the first disciple to be martyred for his faith and I believed in the concept of eternal life while others didn’t…and what good mother wouldn’t want that for her son? Her other son, John, was the framer of the Gospel of John—a talented boy indeed. Runs in the family.

Louisa Stead had always felt a calling to be a missionary and go to China but due to fragile health, she was kept home in the US. She married and started a family, and when her daughter was four years old, the family went on vacation to a nearby beach. While there, they saw a young boy drowning in the ocean. Louisa’s husband swam out and tried to rescue him, but he was pulled under by the boy, and both he and the boy drowned as Louisa and her daughter watched from shore.

Louisa was left without any means of financial support, and she and her daughter were in dire poverty. One day when there was no food in the house and no money, Louisa opened the front door to find that someone had left groceries and money sitting there for her. That same day, she sat down and wrote: “Tis __ _____ __ _____ __ .”

Quote Phillipians 2: 10-11

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

After being lost for a whole day, I was found teaching the elders in the temple. At just 12 years old, the Bible says that everyone was amazed at my understanding and the way I answered  questions. It seems wisdom isn’t a factor of age after all!

Who is Jesus

While many hymns are born out of a particular dramatic experience, this hymn was simply the result of the author’s morning by morning realization of God’s personal faithfulness.

This hymn was originally a poem written by Thomas Obadiah Chisholm in 1923. Thomas accepted Christ as his Savior during a revival meeting and served briefly in Methodist ministry. He retired because of poor health. This hymn was born out of Thomas’ day to day encounter of God’s faithfulness in his life.

It is based on Lamentations 3:22-23, which says that God’s mercies fail not, they are new every morning. It was penned from a believer’s reflection on God’s faithfulness, and it serves as a reminder to all believers even this day.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

What is Great is Thy Faithfulness

Quote Isaiah 40: 30-31

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

When the whole Israelite army was too afraid to attack the Philistines, this young tyke went into battle, armourless, and brought Goliath down with a single sling-shot. Some scholars believe he was aged between 10 and 15! Just another day in the life of a guy who killed bears and lions (verse 35) in his spare time I guess?

Who is David

Picture her on horseback, riding out to battle, leading 10,000 troops, and waiting for God’s word—for she has realized that unless the country’s leaders act, the Hebrew people will be annihilated. A judge, prophet, warrior and woman of prayer, she was wise and discerning, brave and beautiful–and she credited other women with helping to win the battle. We do not know if she gave birth, but Judges 5:7 says she was a “mother in Israel”—a high and rare compliment acknowledging that she was a fierce mother on behalf of the whole Hebrew nation.

Thinking a vacation would do his family some good, he sent his wife and four daughters on a ship to England, planning to join them after he finished some pressing business at home. However, while crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the ship was involved in a terrible collision and sunk. More than 200 people lost their lives, including all four of Horatio Spafford’s precious daughters. His wife, Anna, survived the tragedy. Upon arriving in England, she sent a telegram to her husband that began: “Saved alone. What shall I do?”

Horatio immediately set sail for England. At one point during his voyage, the captain of the ship, aware of the tragedy that had struck the Spafford family, summoned Horatio to tell him that they were now passing over the spot where the shipwreck had occurred.1

As Horatio thought about his daughters, words of comfort and hope filled his heart and mind. He wrote them down, and they have since become a well-beloved hymn. What song did these words become?

What is   It Is Well

Quote Romans 8:35-39

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I was only eight years old when I became king of Judah. Eight! Succeeding my father Amon, who did evil in the sight of God, I set to tear down the idols that had ensnared the people of Judah for more than 70 years. It makes us wonder, who raised him right?

My core message is that of the reconciling mercy of God . my marriage to my unfaithful wife Gomer was an extended metaphor of the Northern Kingdom of Israel’s unfaithfulness to God and its tendency to adultery with other gods. I continued to love Gomer, and God.

While scavenging to make a fire for her dying son, this starving woman encounters a stranger who asks for food. Although there is none to spare, and she wants to give her son the attention and food he deserves, she somehow finds resources to make a meal. Unbeknownst to her, the stranger is the prophet Elijah. Her grain bins miraculously overflow and her son’s health is restored. Little acknowledged fact: Jesus refers to her strength and kindness when he returns from his 40-day journey in the wilderness
