Report it to Mrs. Dhein right away, making sure no one gets hurt.

Should you take care of an injury from a lab on your own?

If you don’t understand how to handle a piece of equipment, what do you do?
First ask three classmates, then if you still need help ask Mrs. Dhein.
What should your outfit look like? (clothes, shoes, hair, jewelry, ect.)
No loose or baggy clothing, closed-toed shoes, tied up hair, no dangling jewelry, and always goggles.
How should you pick up broken glass?
Sweep it up with a broom and dustpan.
How should you walk during a lab? ( list four adjectives or ways to carry items)
You should walk with alertness, slowly, carefully, carrying any item upright with care, be cautious of other people even if you aren’t carrying anything.
If chemicals splash in your eye, what do you do? ( bonus 100 points if you include any amount of time needed for this)
Immediately flush it out with running water for 20 minutes and immediately tell Mrs. Dhein.
Should you ever handle broken glass with your hands?
No, it will cut you.
Should you smell anything during a lab?
No, you should waft it.
Where should you put any unused substances?
Into the garbage or sink, depending on the substance.
If you make a mess while getting the items you ned for an experiment, what should you do?
Clean it up right away with the proper materials.
If you or anyone or their clothes catch fire what do you do?
Stop, drop, and roll, and if that doesn’t work use a fire blanket or extinguisher.
Should you every put cold water on any heated glassware, and what will it do?
No, it may shatter
When your partner is working what should you NOT do be doing?( list at least two)
Messing around, playing, going over to other stations, distracting them.
What is the last step of cleaning up your lab?
Wiping down the table with a Clorox wipe.
Where should you chair be when you are not sitting in it during a lab?
Pushed in so nobody trips on it.
If anything catches fire and an extinguisher is used, what do you do?
Face away, and remove yourself from where it may be sprayed to avoid any further injuries.
When using knives or sharp objects, where should the edge be when carrying, holding or cutting?
Always carry with the sharp edges pointing away from you, cut away from your body, and never catch a falling object by the sharp part, and carry all sharp items by the handle.
When are you able to touch your face?
After you have washed your hands thoroughly.
How should you remove an electrical plug?
Grasp the plug, not the cord when you pull it out from the socket.
During the lab, if you put something away, what do you do first?
Clean it properly, dry it, and put it back where you got it or give it to the next person who needs it.
When mercury thermometers are broken, what do you do?
Do not touch it WHATSOEVER and immediately tell Mrs. Dhein.
