This is a cervical ripening agent that can be administered for induction of labor, but cannot be administered if the patient is already contracting more than 3 in 10. The patient is instructed to lay in bed for 2 hours after insertion.

Though cervidil and cytotec are often given for induction of labor, these patients are not candidates to receive them.
