What is the GLE?
Checking a stick without the ball in it
What is an empty check?
Term used for getting around a defender
What is "dodge"?
To be next to the ball
What is adjacent?
Being in the 8M without guarding anyone; more than a stick-length away from any attacker in the 8M
What is 3 seconds?
The boundary lines on the field that prevent attackers from playing defense and defenders from playing attack
What are the restraining lines?
Blocking the ball with the netting of your stick
What is a cover?
Passing across the 8M for a shot
What is a cross feed?
When the ball is in the 8M and every defender slides to stop the ball/ shot
What is crashing?
1 minute penalty; minor foul
What is a green card?
The marks around the 8M where penalty shots are set up
What are the hashes?
2-minute penalty; major foul
Faking switching hands as a dodge; moving the defense one way before going the other way
What is a face dodge?
Leaving your girl to help defend the ball, usually from the adjacent player
The time at the start of each team’s possession
The area in either attacking zone where shots are most likely to happen; includes the 8M and 12M
What is the critical scoring area?
When an attacker sets their pick behind the defense/ in a dangerous position
Faking a roll dodge to move the defender
What is a rocker dodge?
The defender is more than a stick-length away from a girl intending to shoot within the 8M
What is shooting space?
The time the clock changes to at any reset of possession; the clock time after the ball hits the goal
What is 60 seconds?
The small circles behind the GLE on either side of the goal where fouls from behind the goal are played from
What are the dots?
Using your stick, arms, or body to prevent another player from moving
What is detaining?
The two attacking spots behind the goal
What is X?
Staying in between your girl and the goal as a defender
What is staying goal-side?
Focusing on the aim of your shot instead of the power behind it; think fakes and placement
What is finesse?
