What is figurative language?
information appearing in a research paper that does not fit or is not necessary
What is extraneous information?
the aim or intention an author has when writing an essay or research paper
What is the author's purpose?
the act of speaking loudly enough to be heard by everyone in an audience when giving a speech

the origin of a word (The word claustrophobia comes from the Latin words claustrum which means to close or shut, and the word phobia, which means to fear.)

the act of performing a scene from a book or play

opinions or constructive criticism intended to improve a work or skill

reasonable or sound judgement
What is logic?
the act of looking at specific members of an audience while giving an oral presentation to engage them

two or more verbs that belong to one subject in a sentence (The president gave a speech, walked to the White House, and signed the petition.)

the point in the story where the main conflict plays out/ the highest point of action
What is the climax?
the ability to read over your own work, catch mistakes, and improve your writing

a written address to a person or a corporation for professional purposes
What is a business letter?
an opinion about politics or people that is very popular for a brief amount of time
What is a public opinion trend?
a phrase or clause in a sentence that cannot stand alone as a complete sentence (If they stay too long)

the appearances, attitudes, and beliefs unique to a character in a story (Huck Finn is rebellious.)
What are character traits?
the process of stating a particular word or sentence in different words
