Academic Probation
After attempting 12 units, a student will be placed on “Academic Probation I” if the cumulative
GPA is below 2.0. If the cumulative GPA is still below 2.0 by the next semester, the student is
placed on “Academic Probation II”
Pride Scholars
Students will take two courses each semester that will help them meet general education requirements as a cohort with supportive faculty. Courses will emphasize LGBTQIA+ identity, social movements, and evolving community issues.

California Community College Promise Grant (CCPG)
The California College Promise Grant waives enrollment fees for community college students who are California residents and qualify by meeting certain income and eligibility requirements.
Progress Probation
After enrolling in 12 units, a student will be placed on “Progress Probation I” if the overall
completion ratio is below .50. If the Completion Ratio is still below .50 by the next semester, the
student will be on “Progress Probation II”
Justice Scholars
The mission of Long Beach City College’s Justice Scholars Program is to create an inclusive, equitable, and just campus environment for formerly incarcerated and system impacted students.

LBCC Promise
The Long Beach College Promise (LBCP) is a partnership for Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) students and select high schools. To be eligible, students must enroll at LBCC directly following graduation from an LBUSD high school or one of the selected high schools. Students will be eligible for 2 years of free tuition at LBCC.
Academic Renewal
Academic Renewal is defined as the process by which a student’s previously recorded
substandard credit coursework is disregarded
Basic Needs
Long Beach City College has implemented a Basic Needs program to address hunger and housing insecurity among students. The program is supported by the Healthy Viking Initiative and will provide increased access to food, direct referrals to appropriate housing agencies, and information regarding transportation resources for LBCC students.
Associate Degree for Transfer
60 units, courses numbered 1-99.Major courses, Pre-requisites, and a general education pattern; either plan A or B. This degree grants special benefits for approved CSU's.
Federal Work-Study
On-campus work. 18 hours/week minimum wage
Matriculation
Matriculation supports the transition of students into college by facilitating the completion of entry services such as guided placement, orientation, counseling for educational planning, and referrals to specialized student support services.
Male Success Initiative
LBCC’s Male Success Initiative (MSI) is designed to address the unique needs and challenges of men of color (MOC) by connecting them to existing services, bolstering a sense of belonging and identity, structured mentoring opportunities, and direct student aid.
Transfer Preparation without a Degree
CSU, UC, Private University, or Out-of-State University. CSU & UC: 60 transferable, units vary for private and out-of-state universities.
