What is dual control?

Dual Control is a process requiring two individuals operating together* to protect sensitive functions, information, the Bank, our Customers and our Employees. In some cases, individuals are assigned tools, such as keys and combinations, to utilize and protect in order to achieve dual control. Combinations should be “split” in order to achieve dual control. For example; one Employee has 1st half of the combination and another Employee has 2nd half of the combination. o A critical component of the process is active participation – Employees participating must understand the intention and outcome of the transaction. o Dual control is utilized in many Store functions, including, but not limited to; opening/closing the Store, accessing various vaults, replenishment of the ATM and the auditing of cash.
