A tale that is passed down about a person or event that may or may not be based on truth and is not able to be verified.

What is a legend?
It includes the beginning (exposition), the events, and the ending (resolution) of the story.

What is plot?
These are visual representations, like photographs or drawings.

What are graphic features?
The literary device that uses an object or person to represent an idea.
What is symbolism?
"Black cat, evil cat," yelped the dog.
What is stereotyping?
A hero's mission is to accomplish something.

What is a quest?
The place, time, environment like the weather; can set the mood.

What is setting?
It is a clue about something that is going to happen in the future.
What is foreshadowing?
It is non-literal language like a simile, metaphor, personification, or idiom.
What is figurative language?
"I want a fish, Meow, meow..."
What is onomatopoeia (a sound device)?
The reason for writing a legend is to tell a story that teaches a moral value that is important to a culture.

What is the author's purpose?
Decisions the characters have to make because they are having to decide between two things; can be man vs. man, man vs. self, man vs. nature, man vs. society.
What is a conflict?
A literary device in which the action moves back into the past.
What is a flashback?
These are onomatopoeia, assonance, consonance, rhyme, repetition.
What are sound devices?
"He had a nice dog and an evil black cat." 
What is the conflict?
It is culturally important, like honesty, respect, and goodness.

What is a moral value?
It is the way characters behave, their appearance; what they say.
What is characterization?
It is telling a story that has a plot sequence and may have a flashback or foreshadowing. 
What is narrative?
This is painting a picture with words.
What is imagery?
"Serzhima, do you want a fish?"

What is repetition?
The heart message that is woven throughout the story.

What is a theme?
The author's attitude we can determine by the word choices.
What is tone?
This could be first person perspective, could be third person perspective, could be omniscient, could be limited.
What is point of view?
It is a fixed idea that many people have about a thing or a group that may often be untrue or only partly true. 
What is stereotyping?
"A person without faith is like a net without a fish? Once again you believe in goodness and once again your net is full."
