What is public policy?
This training program was developed by the maternal and child health bureau to improve the health status of infants, children, and adolescents with or at risk for neurodevelopmental and related disabilities and their families. This is accomplished through the training of professionals for leadership roles in the provision of health and related care, continuing education, technical assistance, research and consultation. Interdisciplinary training is the hallmark of this program.

Through education, service, research and outreach activities, this organization works to be instrumental in changing policy, providing training, and educating the public about major disability issues.
What is a UCEDD?
This is the person you should go to if you have questions about the family shadowing experience for LEND, need a family resource or just have a question on the family perspective. She is also the Assistant Director for the NCED.
Who is Diane Thorkildson?

What is cultural competency?
Is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs. Network members consist of UCEDDs, LEND programs, and IDDRC’s. These programs serve and are located in every U.S. state and territory and are all part of universities or medical centers. They serve as a bridge between the university and the community, bringing together the resources of both to achieve meaningful change.
