The country of Newberg is made up of six large regions, called provinces. In Newberg, each of the provinces produces a different product according to the traditions of their ancestors ( wooden furniture, grain, dairy, fishing, baskets, and textiles). Each region trades with its neighbors as it sees fit. Within each province, people vote themseleves on every law and policy they want to govern them. This term refers to a way of life in which people rely heavily on natural resources to meet their basic needs for food, shelter, and clothing. Rather than relying on a market system, they may barter, hunt, fish or make goods as part of a traditional economy. Many of these people have just enough to meet their basic needs.

An advantage of this economic system is faster economic growth and a wide range of higher quality goods and services. A disadvantage may be periods of unemployment and recession, and higher levels of income inequality.
