City
Urban Ecosystem where humans are main consumer. Food comes from outside to feed the population.
People in city generate large amounts of waste. Waste collectors take it outside of the city.
Cold Desert
Land is covered in snow. Little vegetation. Animals feed mostly on sea plants and animals.

Low level of salinity, usually gets a lot of lights.

Scrubland
Trees cant grow because of low temperatures. Only grasses and shrubs survive.
Evergreen trees. Plants compete for lights. Animals use camouflage to hide from predators but birds have bright colours.

Formed where the river meets the sea.
Aquatic Ecosystems
Organisms that live underwater.
Factors are: salinity, depth, water flow rate, and light level.
Pasture
In the past people grew crops and livestock (animals).
Today many pastures are industrial and residential.
Savannah
Very few trees but there is a lot of grass. Animals migrate in the warmer months to find food and water.
Salty water
High level of salinity.

Riparian Forest
Wooded area of land next to a body of water. Always humid even in the summer. Many areas are no farmland. There are deciduous trees.
Taiga
Conifer forest with lichen moss. Animals migrate during the coldest months.
Hot Desert
Very little vegetation. Pleants have spines instead of leaves to help them not lose water. Many animals are nocturnal.
