What is a Lost Book?
This part of the book holds everything together, and is often where you'll find pertinent information like the title, author, and sorting information.
What is the Spine?
This resource can be used to check out eBooks and AudioBooks from the library, regardless of which branch you're at.
What is Libby?
Books about true facts, meant to teach you information about the real world can be found in this section
What is non-fiction?
Story books for grown-ups can be found in what section of the library?
What is Adult Fiction?
This room in the library is available to be rented free of charge to any member of the public (provided there isn't already something going on in said room).
Books checked out from the library usually have this long to be kept while checked out before they must be renewed.
Stories that are made up, or otherwise tell a narrative that is not meant to educate about real life events as facts.
What is Fiction?
Nonfiction books are organized based on this alliterative, numerical system.
What is the Dewey Decimal System?
These journalistic articles can be found on any of the library tables (and we've got plenty more in the back)
What are Newspapers?
Popular books that have come out recently are often placed on this specific shelf, and have stricter rules on how often they can be renewed due to their popularity.
What is the Lucky Day or Popular Material shelf?
The name of the library that you're in right now.
What is the Marion County Public Library
Books in this section are meant for teenagers, or anyone older than 13.
What is the Young Adult (YA) Section?
There are two sets of computers in the library. One set for adults working on research, reference, and working, and the other for this group of people.
What are Children?
Between the Biography and Non-Fiction shelves sits this research-oriented section, about local history (most books of which cannot be checked out).
What is the Genealogy Section
The name referring to the system of seven library branches, all connecting back to Columbus Public Library.
What is the Chattahoochee Valley Library System (or CVL)?
How do you tell if it is a Non-Fiction Book when you are looking at the call number?
The spine will start with numbers, then the author's first 3 letters of their last name.
These kits can be found on top of the shelves in the Childrens and Young Adults sections. (Hint: it's an acryonym)
What are STEAM Kits?
Storytime Kits, useful for adults who want a more interactive reading activity with their children, can be found directly above this section in the front of the library.
