What are the Subject Guides?
These guides bring together useful resources on specific topics and give you easy access to databases, articles, and tools related to your subject. You can explore them on eca.libguides - SubjectGuides
What is an In-Text citation?
In-text citation is used to credit information taken from another source, whether you rephrase it in your own words (paraphrasing) or use the author's exact words (quoting). Every in-text citation must also be listed in the reference list.
What are Boolean operators (used for searching)?
The term applied to the words “AND” “OR” “NOT” when they are used to limit or expand a search in an electronic database such as counseling AND adolescents – (finds ALL keywords) principals OR administrators -- (finds either one or both keywords)
Where can I find journal Articles?
There are several databases that just list journal articles. Go to your Subject guide to be directed to the correct databases
Is there a way to limit databases by subject?
Yes, two ways. Some subject guides have a link to the relevant subjects or on the datbases page, you can type a keyword or select from the subject drop down list.
When do I need to reference in my assessment?
You need to reference information that was originally written or created by someone else, this includes: Direct quotes; Information that you have paraphrased; References also apply to images, statistics, graphs etc.
Why do I need to Ask a Librarian?
To help with Referencing and Citation Software, help identifying keywords for searching and evaluating your results, using the databases and finding your readings
What is an eBook?
eBooks are online or digital books. Like print books, eBooks come in all shapes and sizes but the range, access, downloading and printing conditions may vary depending on the vendor platform, and/or eBook publisher.
Can I search the whole site?
Yes. In the top right hand corner there is a 'free search' button. Results of your search will display on the screen. This search function does not search the actual contents of databases.
