What do we use for cleaning tables?
Spray bottles with soap solution (yellow) and paper towels. Sanitizer spray prior to eating (with enough time to dry)
13.14 – Tops of tables used for eating snacks or meals or other surfaces coming into contact with food shall be washed and sanitized prior to eating
What is the correct ratio for kids to counselors?
13:1
6.1 - 6.5 - All children in the program shall be included in determining the staff/child ratio. The maximum number in an identified group is 26, and the ratio does not exceed 1:13
What are the ways we track kids whereabouts?
name tag whiteboards, and space tag chart

Where are counselors during snack?
At Least 1 counselor serving, and at least 1 counselor sitting at tables while kids eat.

When do kids (and staff) need to wash hands?
after going outside; After using the bathroom; before eating; After administering first-aid

Can we use electronic devices while in ratio with kids (non-emergency)
nope
8.14 – Staff shall not use electronic devices including cell phones for personal use when in ratio with children unless there is an emergency or to take photos
How do we make sure kids are making it to the bathroom and following expectations in the bathroom? (ie. handwashing, appropriate behaviors)
A counselor stands by the bathrooms!

Can we use swear-words, say mean/potentially perceived as mean comments, or discuss adult- topics while in ratio?
For sure not! (important to note that sarcasm can sometimes be misconstrued, and is not developmentally appropriate for some kids. Better to stay away from sarcasm)
8.13 – Staff shall not use profane language or make derogatory or humiliating remarks in the presence of children and families.
Can Kids get additional helpings of food?
Yes!
14.4 & 14.6 – If a child is hungry, he or she should be offered a second helping, and no child shall be forced to eat

How do we store snack food?
15.13 – All non-perishable foods shall be stored in plainly labeled, dated and rodent proof containers

Out of reach of children (On the shelf/ top shelf of counselor cabinet)
12.5 – Hazardous substances shall be in their original container, stored separately and inaccessible to children

What is a first-aid bag?
10.1 & 10.7 – There is at least one properly prepared first aid kit wherever children are in care, including one for field trips and outings away from the facility and one to remain onsite (See Figure 6 for first aid kit contents)
Can we move around woodchips on the playground?
Surprisingly, we cannot!
12.14 – Cushioning materials are placed under structures which allow children to achieve a height of more than 30 inches. Surfacing material is maintained in good condition. Grass, bare ground, asphalt, and concrete are NOT under these structures
Can kids get snack towards the end of the night?
If they ask for some, absolutely!
14.2 – Children are served a meal or snack at least every three hours. School age children attending a full day of school are offered a snack within one hour of arrival at the program. If a program is less than 90 minutes, a snack does not need to be provided
Nope, unless water is not accessible (like field trip)
13.9 – Hand sanitizers are only used when running water is not available such as during outdoor play or on field trips
What are ways we meet kids emotional and behavior needs?
9.1 – The staff is guiding children to meet their individual needs through redirection, planning ahead, reinforcing and praising appropriate behavior, and encouraging children to express their feelings and ideas
Do we need to visually confirm that a child is being picked up by the right adult?
Yes! (check in with Korey/Kassidy in specific instances)
7.8 - A pick-up/check-out system is in place in which there is visual contact with the parent or authorized person upon the release of a child by the program’s representative
Is it okay to smoke in my car before/after work?
Yikes, Please don't!
13.33 through 13.35 – Tobacco and tobacco substitutes (including e-cigarettes), alcohol and illegal drugs is prohibited on the premises of the program. Staff, activity specialists, and volunteers shall not smoke or use tobacco or tobacco substitutes (including e-cigarettes) on or off the premises during the program’s paid time. Employees should not use or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the program’s paid time including break time.
Can kids have snack other than our initial choices?
In short, yes.
15.7 – Children with allergies or sensitivities should be offered an alternative snack
