The next day after Jesus fed the 5000 in John 6:1-15, what did He call Himself as? Hint: related to food
John 6:35-40
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of Him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
Why Jesus dismissed the crowds and what did He do after He dismissed the crowds in Matthew 14:13-23?
Between fed 5000 and walk on water
1.Jesus sent the crowd away because they did not come to Jesus on His terms, tried to force Him to become the kind of king they wanted (John 6:15)
2. Jesus sent the disciples away to protect them from being confused by the crowd
3. Jesus sent everyone away so that He could be alone in His father's presence.
He prayed.

How many types of soils were mentioned on Mark 4:1-20?
Can you describe them briefly?
Why is the fourth soil the only one that represents true believers?
4
1. seed along the path is eaten by birds; 2. seed in rocky soil sprouts quickly but withers in the sun; 3. Seed among thorns is chokes so that it produces no grain; 4. Seed in good soil grows and produces grain
True believers persevere (continually trust) and they bear spiritual fruit (Gal 5:22-23)
Why most of the people fed by Jesus will not find Jesus (Jesus fed the 5,000)?
The gospel is really about being restored to a right relationship with God through His son's sinless life and perfect sacrifice (death on the cross).
It means wanting Jesus Himself (not just the benefit He can bring, as feeding the hungry and healing the sick), trusting and honoring and obeying and delighting in Him for who He is---
The promised Messiah and the true God.
Why Jesus need to pray?
1. Because He is fully human and can be tempted
He finds protection in prayer from temptation
2. Because He is the Son of God.
As God's Son, He submits to His Father, depends on His Father, and delights in His Father (John 5:19; 17:4). He loves to be with His Father and do the things that make His Father happy (4:34). He found greater joy in doing His Father's will than in anything temptation could offer (Heb 12:2).
He finds pleasure in the powerful presence of God in prayer

Matthew 14:22-33
Lesson 8 Jesus rebukes the Pharisees
Jesus condemns those who say His power comes from Satan.
Matthew 12:22-37
When Jesus defined discipleship in Mark 8:27-38, what is the key verse?
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
deny yourself: stop exalting yourself, stop trusting in yourself, and stop pleasing yourself
take up his cross: the death march of a prisoner carrying the cross beam to the place of his crucifixion. It involved extreme humiliation.
follow me (Jesus): living like He did (1John 2:6)
What does it mean to lose your life in Mark 8:35?
It means being willing to die for Christ. It also means living now as if you have already died, by not living for yourself. It means giving up control to Jesus.
Will you give some examples of Jesus praying from the Bible?
1. Before choosing 12 apostles (Luke 6:12)
2. Before and after feeding 5000 (Mat 14; Mk 6, Lk9, Jn 6)
3. Last supper (John 17)
4. Garden of Gethsemane (Mat26, Mk 14, Luke 22) and on the cross (Luke 23).
