Diffusion
What is the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
Plants produce their food by this process.
What is photosynthesis?
Meat cells have more water than salt does. What would happen if you packed meat in salt?
The meat would dry out because the water molecules diffuse to the salt.
Food molecules moving through the cell membrane without using energy.
What is passive transport?
Food molecules that are too large to pass through the cell membrane can enter through this method instead.
What is Endocytosis?
During this phase of mitosis, one cell splits int two cells and a nuclear membrane forms around both sets of chromosomes.
What is phase 4?
The two products of photosynthesis.
What are glucose and oxygen?
The process that uses oxygen to break down food molecules and release energy.
What is cellular respiration?
Cell division in a bacterial cell.
What is binary fission?
Wilted celery put in water becomes crisp again because of this process.
What is osmosis?
The three things photosynthesis needs.
H2O, CO2, and light energy.
During this phase of mitosis, chromatids are pulled to opposite sides of the cell by fibers attached to the centrioles.
What is phase 3?
When does fermentation take place in human muscle cells?
When the muscle cells need ATP (energy), but are not receiving enough oxygen to create it by cellular respiration.
Fermentation in animal (and human) cells produces these two things.
What are ATP and lactic acid?
During cell division mitochondria collect around the centrioles for this reason.
What is: the centrioles require a lot of energy to pull the chromatids to opposite sides of the cell?
