What is conjugation?

What is a vaccine?
True or False. A latent virus can remain in the body for years before destroying host cells.
What is true?
Identify whether each of the following is true about a bacterium or a virus.
must infect a host cell in order to reproduce
What is virus?
Identify whether each of the following is true about a bacterium or a virus.
“fixes” nitrogen in the soil
What is bacterium?
Identify whether each of the following is true about a bacterium or a virus.

What is bacterium?

What is a plasmid?
the slimy coating around a bacterium
What is a capsule?
a cell infected by a virus
What is a host?
Prokaryotes are classified in kingdoms ______ and ______ .
Arches and Bacteria
How is a latent virus different from an active virus?
An active virus immediately forces the host cells to produce more viruses and destroys the cell by bursting it. A latent virus does not kill the host cell immediately. Instead, the viral DNA remains inactive for a period of time. Each time the host cell divides through mitosis, the viral DNA is replicated and passed on to new cells. Eventually, something signals the latent virus to become active, and the virus then destroys its host cells.
the bacterial DNA and ribosomes enclosed in a tough case that can survive unfavorable conditions
What is a endospore?
a protein coat surrounding viral DNA
