What is the difference between Debit and Credit?

  • Debit: record all of the money flowing into an account. So, if your business were to take out a $5,000 small business loan, the cash you receive from that loan would be recorded as a debit in your cash, or assets, account.
  • Credit: ecord money that flows out of an account. To use that same example from above, if you received that $5,000 loan, you would record a credit of $5,000 in your liabilities account.
  • Think of Debit as the money you earn from your job, where Credit is money, you are given (Like a Loan) and need to pay back.

What is a Credit Score?

A credit score is a three-digit number that rates your creditworthiness. FICO scores range from 300 to 850. The higher the score, the more likely you are to get approved for loans and for better rates.

A credit score is based on your credit history, which includes information like the number accounts, total levels of debt, repayment history, and other factors. Lenders use credit scores to evaluate your credit worthiness, or the likelihood that you will repay loans in a timely manner.
