To avoid stereotyping someone, we need to treat every person as a unique individual instead of making assumptions about them based on the group they belong to. We can do this by getting to know people for who they really are, listening to their stories, and challenging our own automatic thoughts.

A bystander is someone who stands by and watches something bad happen (watching bullying happening). 

An upstander is someone who stands up for what is right. When they see someone being mistreated, they take action to help, either by speaking up or by getting a trusted adult.
