once you are done with the in-cabin inspection, you go to the front of the truck with your instructor. what is the first things you say to them?
1) Now i am going to start my light inspection, i am going to be inspecting my LIGHTS, LENSES, REFLECTORS & REFLECTIVE TAPE are the same way:
- PROPERLY MOUNTED AND SECURED, NOT CRACKED BENT OR BROKEN. THEY ARE CLEAN, CLEAR AND ILLUMINATED.
- And they are the proper color of AMBER to the FRONT and SIDES and RED to the REAR.
when doing the light inspections where are your 5 locations?
(note: similar to the 5x5)
& List the order you must go in.
- Front, sides and rear of the truck
-sides and rear of the Trailer.
- left head light, left reflector(amber), left turn signal.
-marker light (near the left tractor door)
-clearance light (above the top left corner of trailer)
- reflective Tape (along the side of the trailer)
- reflective tape (on mud flaps)
- 2 brake lights and 2 red reflectors (rear of tractor)
- marker light (driver side of the trailer)
-ABS light (back end of the trailer)
- marker light
-clearance light (along the top rear of the trailer)
- reflective tape on the top and bottom of the trailer doors and the Bumper)
- brake lights
-marker light (right side of the trailer)
- reflective tape (along the Rightside of trailer)
-mud flaps (reflective tape)
- 2 red reflectors and 2 brake lights.
-clearance light (top right of the trailer)
- marker light (near the right tractor door)
- right head light, right reflector(amber) and right turn signal
- clearance lights (front of the tractor)
what are your 5 functions?
- left turn signal
- right turn signal
- high beams
- 4 way flashers
- brake lights
before starting the light inspections what must you make sure is on before going to the front of the truck?
your head lights MUST BE ON BEFORE test.
when doing your 5X5 where are your 5 locations?
- front of truck
- both sides of the truck
- rear of truck
- both sides of the trailer
- rear of the trailer
when preforming your 5x5 what do you state to your Examiner about what you are doing?
"Next i will be checking my five functions at 5 locations(5x5). Mr examiner can you please help me with that?
once agreed tell them to start at the front then move to the other locations as you shout your functions.
EX: we will start at the front of the truck, i will go in and shout the 5 functions. (you shout the functions), Mr examiner can you please move to the drivers side/rear side of the truck....Drivers side/rear side of the trailer....passenger side/ rear side of the trailer...please move to the passenger side of the truck...
when done: let them know you are done with your LIGHT INSPECTION
