What are the protagonist and antagonist?
Main character (good guy) and the villain (bad guy)
What is the climax?
The peak of the story
What is the setting?
The time and place in the story
Main events that happened in the story (usually more than one)
The solution to the problem in the story.
What is the Narrator?
The person that talks about the story and the characters.
What is character conflict?
The conflict or problem between 2 characters in the story - usually the protagonist and antagonist
What is personification?
When you give objects human attributes - the wind howled in the night
What is characterization?
Events that led to the creation of the character and who they are - a character's house was attacked when they were little
What is a metaphor?
When you compare two separate things that have nothing in common to make them seem more alike.
What is a similie?
Comparing two things using the words "like" or "as" - similar to a metaphor
What is flashback?
When the narrator or character takes the reader back in time to show an important event
What is irony?
When something opposite happens that doesn't make sense and seems funny most of the time - fire station burned down
What is alliteration?
When you write sentence with most words starting with the same letter - Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers
What is imagery?
When the author uses various words to describe the setting to help the reader visualize what is happening in the event.
What is onomatopoeia?
Quick loud words, usually used in comics - BAM! POW! BOOM!
What is atmosphere?
The mood or the vibe of the story
What is satire?
A way to make fun of someone in a funny way
What is an oxymoron?
When you combine two words that have opposite meanings - same difference
What is a symbol?
A physical object or something that has a completely different meaning when used - red means love
What is an idiom?
Has a different meaning than what you would think it would have by first looking at it - raining cats and dogs, kill 2 birds with one stone
What is hyperbole?
When you greatly exaggerate something to prove your point - Im so hungry I could eat a horse

When you reach a conclusion after the story or event.
