Something that is opposite of what you expect. Ex: An extremely tall person with the nickname of "midget"

A comparison NOT using like or as. Ex: The Juliet is the sun

The emotional high point of a story
What is climax
Something that stands for something else
What is symbolism
A common phrase or expression that should not be taken literally- a figure of speech

This character is usually in conflict or direct opposition to the main character

Alternating from present to past

The action that throws the conflict into overdrive
