Plot Elements
All of the events in a story; it is often mapped out on a triangle map.
What is Plot?
The main or central character in a story, sometimes thought of as the good guy or hero.
Who is the protagonist?
The time and place of a story.
What is the setting?
The story takes place in the countryside.

The problem within a story; it can be classified as man v. man, man v. nature, man v. self, man v. society, and man v. technology
What is conflict?
Opening statement that engages the reader.
What is a hook/attention grabber?
A type of writing that tells a true story or presents factual information in a narrative format.
What is a non fictional narrative?
The three pigs and the wolf
Who are the characters?
Hogwarts
What is a setting?
Part of the plot where the tension is the highest; the turning point.
What is climax?
A literary work based on imagination rather than on fact, like a novel or short story.
What is fiction?
How the story is told either from first person. second person, or third person.
What is point of view?
Two of the pigs are lazy while the third is hard working.
What are character traits?

Who is a protagonist?
Part of the plot where the solution to the main conflict occurs
What is the resolution?
The force or person that the main character is struggling against.
Who is the antagonist?
The qualities of a character that usually change or grow as the plot develops.
What are character traits?
The pigs vs the wolf who is trying to eat them.
What is the conflict?
When the reader realizes at the end of Green Eggs and Ham that "Trying new things can be a positive experience."
What is a theme?
Part of the plot that comes at the very beginning; it introduces the characters and setting
What is the exposition?
The methods by which an author reveals a character including dialogue, thoughts, actions, and interactions with others.
What is characterization?
The author's message related to a universal truth that is shared throughout the story.
What is theme?
At the end of the story, when the third pig's house is too strong for the wolf, so the wolf tries to get in through the chimney and dies in the fire.
What is the resolution?
