A technique in which the author gives clues about something that will happen later in the story.
What is foreshadowing?
A character that doesn't change throughout the story.
What is a static character?
The character who opposes someone else in the story.
What is the antagonist?
The beginning of the story (includes characters, setting, and initial conflict).

A literary term in which what is written is different than what is expected.

Can be 1st person, 3rd person limited, or omniscent.

A character that changes throughout the story.

A type of characterization where the author directly describes a character (appearance or personality).
What is direct characterization?
A form of characterization in which the author uses action or dialogue to portray a character.
