What is the series of changes in the life of an organism including reproduction?

Life Cycle

100
What is a vertebrate?

An animal of a large group distinguished by the possession of a backbone or spinal column.

(e.g) mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes

100

What is an ecosystem?

A biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment.

100

What is Recycling?

The process of collecting, separating, reusing and remanufacturing used materials and products.

Mostly composed of non-biodegradable waste which takes a long time to decompose.

Reduces waste products in landfills

400

What do humans and animals have in common?

They all go through a life cycle

400

400

Why do scientists usually use a food web instead of a food chain?

Producers, or autotrophs, make their own organic molecules. Consumers, or heterotrophs, get organic molecules by eating other organisms. A food chain is a linear sequence of organisms through which nutrients and energy pass as one organism eats another.

400

What does a desert ecosystem contain?

Deserts are areas of land that are arid, or dry, and get less than 10 inches of rain per year. Deserts can be hot or cold. Plants and animals in the desert ecosystem have adaptations that allow them to survive the lack of rainfall and extreme temperatures.

500

Why are humans the top predators?

Predators that exert top-down control on organisms in their community are often considered keystone species. The presence of any top predator (bear, big cat, wolf, dog, or especially human) can greatly alter the behavior of such smaller predators a badger.

500

Why the ecosystem is important?

Ecosystems are communities of organisms and non-living matter that interact together. Each part of the ecosystem is important because ecosystems are interdependent. Damaged or imbalanced ecosystems can cause many problems.

500

What is the three R's? Explain why it is important to maintain these three R's.

reduce

reuse

recycle

All help to cut down on the amount of waste we throw away. They conserve natural resources, landfill space, and energy. Plus, the three R's save land and money communities must use to dispose of waste in landfills.
