What is a Flat Bed?

What are HOS?
Operating a truck empty or with no freight.
What is Deadheading?
The person or entity transferring and accepting legal responsibility or ownership of the cargo (or consignment) from the carrier.
What is a Consginee?
A single vehicle, with no articulation.
What is a Straight Truck?
A closed box trailer without temperature control that carries general cargo, including food and other products that do not require refrigeration.
What is a Dry Van?
A paper document between a shipper and a carrier acknowledging the receipt of goods for transport.
What is a BOL, B/L, BL?
A single trailer or container with a detachable chassis that encounters multiple modes of transportation along its route, such as truck/ship/rail.
What is an Intermodal?
A payer of the freight charges shown on the bill of lading that is neither the shipper nor consignee.
What is a Third Party Payer?
A truck cab without a sleeper berth.
What is a Day Cab?
A trailer with a refrigeration unit and insulated box trailer.
What is a Reefer?

What is an MC?

A flatbed with a movable frame of squared ribs supporting a tarp.
What is a Conestoga?
The abbreviation applied to pooling of different commodities for simplification of rating or price.
What is an FAK?
The material used to protect, secure or support freight in or on trucks.
What is Dunnage?
An intermediary between shipper and freight service provider
