It is not respectful. Coming to class late disrupts the learning of others. It's also difficult for the teacher to make sure you get the missed material while still teaching the rest of the class. Also, we want you in class!!!! We want you to learn all that you can!

No, sometimes we get paired up with people who we may not be friends with, but it is not kind to say you do not want to work with them. You might find you have something in common with them or learn something new. When we get jobs, go to college, etc. we often have to work with people that we may not like, but we still have to make it work. This helps us to gain skills to work with those we may not be friends with or talk to regularly.

When riding the bus, can you stand up and talk to friends when the bus is moving, have your feet/legs in the aisle, or talk really loud?
No, you must remain seated while the bus is moving so you do not get hurt. You cannot have your feet/legs in the aisle because someone could trip over you. You also want to have an inside voice so you can hear the bus driver and make sure you are not distracting the bus driver.

Sandra and Rosie are friends. Sandra has been getting frustrated with Rosie because when they play together, they always have to do what Rosie wants. This makes Sandra mad and sad. What can Sandra do to solve the problem in a respectful way?
Sandra could tell Rosie that it makes her feel bad/sad/mad when Rosie does not ever want to play what Sandra wants to play. If Sandra is unsure how to say this to Rosie, she can ask an adult for help. Sandra can suggest they do what Rosie wants one day and then what Sandra wants the next time they play.

Having a growth mindset means believing that with work, your skills can improve over time. It is great to have a growth mindset in class because we are always learning and changing and it is OK if we don't get it right the first time!
