What is an IR?

What is:
1. Try to call the duty phone to see if they have it and just forgot to check in.
2. Check RAOD schedule and call personal phone.
3. Check with other RAOD or other RA team members to see if they can check the room and/or cover duty.
Follow up with RA supervisor to let them know what happened.
A student approaches you in tears, saying they’re overwhelmed with classes, work, and personal issues and don’t know where to start.
What is listen actively, provide support/resources, submit CARE referral dependent on what is disclosed.
You still call this person even when a residential student is transported from a non residential building.

What are LID, resident building and room, and referral number.
You would submit this if a student is experiencing homesickness.
What is nothing. If they are experiencing layered concerns, a CARE referral would be appropriate, but just homesickness is something an RA can work with them on.
A student discloses sexual assault and you share with them next steps. Share at least two resources you may offer them.
What are temp room change, survivor packet, the line, protocall.
Someone has vandalized a common area by spray-painting the walls. Multiple students are pointing fingers at each other.
What is separate students and take notes from everyone. Submit IR. Reach out to campus safety to see if there is camera footage. Have RAs identify involved individuals from camera footage.
If for some reason you cannot reach LTOD, this is who you contact next.
Who is Rodrina Moore?
This is the term for a meeting conducted after a crisis to evaluate the response and identify improvements.
What is a debrief.
You would submit this if a student reports their roommate has an eating disorder and has heard them vomiting in the bathroom.
What is a BCT referral. Check in with the roommate to gather more information and provide resources, file a BCT.
The RAOD calls and says they have a resident sleeping in the hallway.
What is advise the RA to wake up the resident and have them return to their room. Ask why the resident was sleeping in the hall and address concerns.
Two roommates are screaming at each other, and one is threatening to throw the others' items out of the room. The RA needs help.
What is separate the students, hear from both of them. See if it is something that can be revolved in the moment and provide support. Offer temp space to either of them until a resolution can be found, perhaps a permanent room change.
CARE and BCT referrals do not automatically route to the RD of the building, therefore this is best practice.
What is send the narrative to the RD?
An off-duty RA calls you because they are missing some items for their program in 30 minutes.
What is advise the RA to double check any communication received about the program from their supervisor. See if the program can continue without the items, if not, advise they reschedule when all items can be secured.
You would submit this if a student discloses a close family member has passed away, they are struggling with academics, and doesn't know how to manage everything going on.
What is a CARE referral?
A guest trying to check in does not have an ID with them.
What is turn the guest away, they must have a government ID to be able to go in the hall. Refer to Melissa's list of places to stay if they need alternative housing.
A resident reports that their laptop is missing from their room and suspects it was stolen.
What is meet with the student, gather information, call CS for a police report. Submit IR. Talk about safety measures such as keeping door locked. Check with student if they feel safe staying in their room, offer temp space if not.
In cases of sexual misconduct, these two people are notified. (Note: not who the referral is submitted to)

What is a paper roster?
You would submit this if a student disclosed their roommate used racial slurs toward them.
What is the Equity & Title IX Concern form?
The proximity reader is down in Simpson, oh no! These steps would be taken.
What is:
Doors should be secured or staffed at all times
Report proximity reader issues to Campus Safety
Report campus-wide or prolonged outages to Campus Safety and LT On-Call to develop a response plan
A student reports they have bedbugs in their room!
What is don't move them! File a WO so that pest control can confirm. Notify Manuel/James/Adriana. Do not move student unless they have taken proper steps (washing items in heat before moving them). If they want to stay with a friend or need a temp space, certain steps must be taken. Once pest control confirms, they will set up heat treatment and further instructions will be sent to resident.
You would do this if the emergency contact's number is not listed or is disconnected.
What is make a note in the duty log that you were unable to reach the emergency contact due to not number, voicemail full, etc.
Share at least two reasons a LSC PSOD would respond to Baumhart for in-person response.
